Checking out at Hampton Inn

Hi,

My plan is to book a Hampton Inn, but in actuality not stay there.

If I make sure that I do not charge anything, do I need to do a "checkout" in person, or is it assumed that I am checked out?

I want the credit for the 50K promo, but do not feel like running all over town checking out to my various hotels located throughout the city, prior to flying out at 7AM?

I done that and it worked just fine. I went to the room, washed my face and left. I called them the next day, said I needed a copy of my receipt mailed to me. Arrived in the mail 2 days later. Another time I said my expense report was due today, could I have my receipt now so I could get it in the mail in time...no problems.

I assume that you intend to do the following:

Book a Hampton room.

Check into the Hampton room.

Never stay in the rented room.

Receive HH credit for staying at the Hampton.

If the above is your intention, then YES, you can do this without actually checking out the next morning.

I rarely actually "check out" in the morning. I just use the folio/receipt that was delivered under my door around 5:00am for my expense report.

You MAY have left before the folios were delivered. You just won't have a copy of the receipt unless you call the hotel and ask for a duplicate later on (maybe you forget to get one when you left at 2:00 am).

What about just booking it online and not showing up at all?

Don't believe not showing up will get you the points, but it may get you a charge on your credit card.

There isn't any reason to do anything to check out, just leave the key on the dresser and walk out. As long as they have a credit card for express check out there isn't any need to call them or stop by, I don't remember the last time I actually checked out in person at a desk.

From the way I read your post, it sounds like you will be checked into more than one hotel for the same night. Hilton may not let you get points for all the different hotels as you can't stay in more than one per night. Feel free to try but don't be upset if you only get credit for one hotel. Unless I am reading your post wrong.

I forgot to cancel a reservation in the past and DID get points for the no-show billing on my credit card.

No sure if that is standard policy or not...but it has happened.

Baze,

You are correct I will actually be staying at 1 hotel, and I was wondering if I could be in 2 hotels on the same day and get points.

It doesn't sound like it will work according to you.

Darn. Thanks, at least you will save me $55.00.

How about check in, wash face in hotel room, check out. Get receipt five minutes after checking in. Do you actually have to stay the entire nite before they can check you out and give you a receipt. You pay for the entire night and just choose to check out before midnight...

I've thought about it and have a solution.

Check in, wash face, get receipt leave.

Check into non Hilton property for that night (actually it is a free stay for me) except for the money I pay at the Hilton property.

Next night, switch hotels to new Hilton property and stay there. Switch again, to another Hilton property and stay there.

3 more stays gives me my 50K.

Goodie for me.

Thanks everyone.

Personally, I like to check out in person, IF I have time and IF I can't view my bill on the TV (you can at most Hiltons). Why? If there are inaccuracies on the bill, I'd much rather deal with them then and there, versus having to hassle with disputing a credit card charge farther down the road. Also, if it's somewhere I stay frequently, it gives me more "face time" with the clerks and increases the chances they will remember me (hopefully favorably) the next time I check IN.

Checking out at Hampton Inn question

Hello,

In the near future I plan on checking into a Hampton Inn, and then leaving and not staying there in order to get my stay credit for the Hilton 50K promo.

When booking the reservation this verbiage was displayed. Do I need to worry about this?

"At check-in, the front desk will
verify your departure date. If after checking in you leave
before the scheduled departure date, you may be charged an early
departure fee, depending on the hotel's policy."

This is for the Hampton Inn in Las Vegas on Tropicana.

I have seen this before, and I take this to mean that if you have reserved, say, 4 nights, and decide to check out after 2 nights, they may charge you a fee in addition to the 2 nights you have paid for.

(The idea being that they may have turned down a reservation for those remaining 2 nights that you are now vacating.)

You shouldn't have any problem!
