Here are the ingredients you will need to make this marry me chicken crock pot recipe:

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts: you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken thighs- chicken thighs are a little fattier and slow cook well to stay juicy and tender.
  • Canned Diced Tomatoes with Garlic and Onion
  • Tomato Paste:
  • Sun Dried Tomatoes: you can usually find a jar of sundried tomatoes by the pasta or jarred tomato sauce. I have also found them near the condiments.
  • Canned Cream of Mushroom Soup: you can also use cream of chicken soup if you prefer.
  • Italian Seasoning: an Italian seasoning blend usually includes oregano, basil, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, sage and savory.
  • Cream Cheese: use full-fat or reduced-fat cream cheese in this recipe.
  • Parmesan Cheese: I used crumbled parmesan cheese in this recipe. It adds flavor and helps thicken the sauce.
  • Fresh Basil
  • Green Onion: fresh chopped green onion is used in this recipe, but you can also use chives instead.
  • Salt and Pepper
  • For Serving: serve this chicken and sauce over pasta linguine or spaghetti, rice, or mashed potatoes.

FAQ's

How to store it

Transfer your cooled leftovers to an air-tight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days.

How to reheat

Transfer the portion you want to reheat to a microwave-safe dish and cover. Microwave on low, in 30-second increments, until the desired temperature is met.

What is Marry Me Chicken made of?

This recipe uses either chicken breasts or chicken thighs cooked in a creamy sun-dried tomato sauce with herbs and is served over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Why is my chicken tough after slow cooking?

Chicken does get dry if slow cooked for too long. When overcooked, it becomes stringy, dry, and chewy. Try watching for the internal temperature of the chicken to reach 165 degrees F to know that it is done to prevent overcooking.

Does chicken get more tender the longer it cooks?

Chicken does not get tender the longer it cooks. Overcooking results in dry chewy chicken.
