How To Create a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

Learn how to make the simple dessert board loaded with all the cute Valentines candy and colors!

Step 1. Melt the white chocolate and dark chocolate: Place the chocolate in two microwave-safe bowls and heat it in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval until smooth and melted. Alternatively, you can melt the white chocolate in a double boiler on the stove.

Step 2. Dip the wafer cookies in white chocolate: Take each wafer cookie and dip it halfway into the melted white chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off, then place the dipped wafer cookies on a cooling rack. Decorate the cookies with heart-shaped sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Repeat with the remaining wafer cookies.

Step 3. Dip the heart-shaped cookies: Dip each heart-shaped cookie into the melted white chocolate, covering one side completely. Place the dipped cookies on the lined baking sheet and decorate them with heart-shaped sprinkles. Allow the white chocolate to set.

Step 4. Prepare the strawberries: Dip each strawberry into the melted dark chocolate, coating it halfway. Place the dipped strawberries on the cooling rack baking.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • You can prepare the heart-shaped cookies and wafer cookies dipped in white chocolate in advance and store them in an airtight container until ready to assemble the charcuterie board. This will save you time on the day of serving.
  • If you want to speed up the chilling time of the dipped strawberries and cookies, you can place them in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to help the chocolate set.
  • To enhance the presentation, you can use a variety of serving platters or boards of different sizes and shapes to create an appealing visual display for your sweet charcuterie board.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of red and pink candies to add variety and color to the charcuterie board. You can also incorporate other Valentine’s Day-themed treats such as heart-shaped brownies, mini cupcakes, or chocolate-covered pretzels.

  • Ensure that the strawberries and cherries are thoroughly dry before dipping them in chocolate to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture for the chocolate-covered strawberries, you can gently pat the dipped strawberries with a paper towel after dipping to remove any excess chocolate.
  • If the melted chocolate becomes too thick during the dipping process, you can add a small amount of vegetable oil or coconut oil to thin it out slightly.
  • If you’re making your own heart-shaped cookies from scratch, ensure they are fully cooled before dipping them in chocolate to prevent the cookies from becoming soft or crumbly.
  • When arranging the charcuterie board, consider adding small bowls or ramekins for the berries chutney and additional dipping sauces or spreads for variety.
