Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Marshal VR Chaudhari said on Friday that India’s aerospace industry is experiencing unprecedented growth towards becoming a self-sustaining nation.

Mr Chaudhari, speaking at an international flight test seminar held as part of the IAF Aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment (ASTE) Golden Jubilee celebrations, said: “Every passing day , the Indian aerospace industry is experiencing unprecedented growth to become a self-reliant ‘Aatma Nirbhar’ Bharat. On this occasion, it is important to highlight government policies that aim to support the holistic integration of advanced technologies, the impulse to national manufacturing, the strengthening of public-private partnership and the strengthening of the overall indigenous component in the defense sector,” he said.

He added that the policies have created a solid roadmap loaded with a wealth of opportunities for the flight test community to proactively engage and contribute effectively to the achievement of national policy goals.

The Air Force Chief of Staff commended the contribution of ASTE and its alumni to numerous aircraft development, militarization and upgrade programs that have played a pivotal role in the improving the operational capability of the IAF.

Over the years, ASTE has been instrumental in the flight testing and operationalization of combat aircraft and weapon systems, including the locally developed LCA Tejas, ALH Dhruv and LCH Prachand, which have been successfully inducted into the IAF and sister services. Various commemorative events were organized throughout this important year with the participation of all.

Its flight test crew actively participated in the design and development program of Saras MK-II and Hansa NG, in addition to various complex aircraft upgrade and weapons integration programs.
