Grammy nominee Selena Gomez has revealed she’s written 12 new songs she loves, which are about secret romances and other private experiences.

“To be honest, I tell stories now that people don’t know,” the 30-year-old “Texican” pop star told Zane Lowe onstage at the Apple Tower Theater in Los Angeles last Friday.

“People I’ve dated that people don’t know about. Experiences I’ve had that people don’t know about. I’ve created this private life that’s just mine.

Selena – who ended her 10-month romance with The Weeknd in October 2017 – is rumored to be dating producer Andrea Iervolino as early as 2019.

But Gomez is believed to have met the 34-year-old Italian in 2015 when he produced James Franco’s box office bombshell In Dubious Battle, in which she played Lisa London.

“It’s been very weird and tricky because I’m not into the sad girl world anymore, if that makes sense.” And that’s kind of all I’ve known,’ the Calm Down singer explained.

“And it sounds pretty bad, and obviously all my music isn’t that.” Obviously I want it to be fun, but honestly I struggled. I’ve definitely written and have at least 12 songs that I love, but I don’t know if I don’t feel comfortable with it yet for some reason.

“And I want to keep improving so that I obviously don’t want to go back. I want to be able to be ahead of the curve and take a whole new path, and try it. So I’ve experimented a lot, but it’s getting close. It’s just a little frustrating…I want to dance, Zane, so much because I need to.’

Selena’s new song is named after Alek Keshishian’s critically acclaimed documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, which premiered last Friday on Apple TV+.

“There’s so much bottled up, and I think I’m doing a good job, hopefully being careful and being aware of other people’s feelings. And I’m very vague, and I can be very politically correct,” Gomez said of the track.

“And in my music, I can really say how I feel. And I think that’s why this song means so much to me, and in a way that all of my other songs don’t, just because I attached that to my sanity and addressing what it is. I mean, it’s completely cathartic to me and I think it fits so well with the documentary.
